Is AI Music Bad? DST61’s Answer Is Intent, Not Automation

“Does AI music lack heart?” This question deserves a serious answer.

AI is neither the enemy nor the answer

AI does not automatically improve expression. It also does not automatically ruin it. What matters is who decides what remains, what is removed, and what it means.

DST61's position

DST61 does not hide AI. It shows the human decisions made after generation.

What remains human

  • Selection: deciding which sounds, words, and images are worth keeping.
  • Editing: removing material that is flashy but weak in meaning.
  • Worldbuilding: connecting a track to character, lyrics, and atmosphere.
  • Release: taking responsibility for what becomes public.

What DST61 wants to affirm

DST61 is not arguing that anything made with AI is automatically good. It is arguing that intent becomes more important when the number of possible outputs increases.
